Former 2-time UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw picked up a controversial split decision win over no.2 ranked, Cory Sandhagen in the main event at UFC Vegas 32. Interestingly enough, Urijah Faber, TJ’s former teammate from Alpha Male, recently appeared in an interview with submission radio to discuss all things, TJ Dillashaw.

Despite their troubled past, Urijah Faber was complimentary of TJ’s performance, citing his relentless pace and aggression as the key to his win against Cory Sandhagen.

Furthermore, when asked whether he believed that TJ Dillashaw could have become a world champion without the use of performance enhancers, this is what ‘The California Kid’ had to say, “Now, are the odds stacked in your favor if you’re being unfair and you know, you fill in the blanks of your natural gifts that you do not have, obviously that stacks things in your favor, but at the end of the day, the mind is the most empowering and important thing in this sport, especially in combat sport.

“My fighters that fought this last weekend, Maycee and Darren Elkins were a testament to that. You know, like the mentality side is the big thing and TJ’s always had that”

Unfortunately for TJ, the two years spent serving his suspension will never return, however, with the win against Sandhagen, the 35-year-old is now a step closer to his dream of getting UFC Gold wrapped around his waist, one more time.

With the UFC aiming to finalize the rematch between Peter Yan and Aljamain Sterling for UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi, Dillashaw may very well be up for a title fight against the victor.

In fact, both TJ and Petr Yan have been having their own back and forth, with Yan calling out TJ immediately after his win this past weekend.

With the title fight taking place in October, Dillashaw will be expecting to return to the Octagon sometime early next year. The time off will allow Dillashaw to recover from the multiple injuries sustained in his bout with Cory Sandhagen.

Irrespective of the opponent, TJ Dillashaw will have his hands full whenever he decides to step into the octagon. What do you think? Will TJ Dillashaw capture the Bantamweight title for the third time? Let us know in the comments.
