Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time. ‘The Eagle’ started his MMA journey in 2008. After going 16-0 and dominating his competition, the UFC signed him in 2011. The Russian fighter made his debut for the promotion in 2012 and continued his dominance against some of the toughest fighters in the world.

Nurmagomedov reached the pinnacle of the lightweight division after he defeated Al Iaquinta at UFC 223. He defeated him to claim the vacant lightweight title and became the best in the division. The Dagestan native then defended his title three times before retiring from active competition. His last fight was against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254. He dominated ‘The Highlight’ through most of the fight and submitted him via a triangle choke in the second round.

The Eagle‘ stepped away from the sport because of the passing away of his father. Since then, he has involved himself in multiple business ventures and even has his own MMA promotion. Eagle FC, his promotion, will make its USA debut on January 28, 2022, in Miami, Florida with Eagle FC 44. In a recent tweet, Nurmagomedov announced he will be at an event on January 25 in Detroit.

He wrote, USA I’m coming. I am sending you location. January 25th, Detroit, Michigan. I am partnering with @MiftaahInst & @ClassAEvent for an exclusive evening not to be missed!”

This event is just days before Eagle FC’s debut event in the U.S. It will be a great place for the Russian to talk more about the card and the event.

Eagle FC to make U.S. debut on January 28

Khabib Nurmagomedov bought Gorilla Fighting Championship for $1 million and renamed it Eagle Fighting Championship. Since he has acquired the promotion, he has taken it to new heights. The promotion recently signed former UFC stars like Kevin Lee, Diego Sanchez, and Rashad Evans.

They plan to do as many as 10 events in the USA, starting with Eagle FC 44. Tyrone Spong and Sergei Kharitonov will headline the event. It will also see the return of UFC legends Rashad Evans and Renan Barao.

Evans is a former UFC light heavyweight champion and UFC Hall of Famer. Barao is the former UFC bantamweight and at one point held one of the longest unbeaten streaks in MMA history. However, he hasn’t fought since 2019 and is currently on a five-fight losing streak.
