Kavanagh said, “I didn’t understand that at all. That was a very strange one. I would have understood if, let’s say, UFC was dropping USADA at the end of the year, and then there was a rumour, or not even a rumour, like an announcement: Conor’s fighting on January 15th, you know, something like that. You could understand USADA being upset then. Say, ‘Oh, so that’s why he, right?’ But there was never talk. There was only ever talk of the first sample being given in a couple of weeks ago, whenever it was, and fast forward 6 months. That’s April.”

He further added “That’s all there was ever talk of. So when I saw those statements from USADA, and I mean, you guys over here are so litigious and everything, I was like, ‘Why are you…?’ It sounds very… I don’t know, off or something. It’s like, at least wait for UFC to try and break the rule, try and get them in early. ‘Oh, we’re the new company now, so we’re hitting reset, and he’s fighting in January or February,’ but they never did. So why would you throw it out there that they’re trying to do something when they weren’t? I don’t know.” McGregor never gave any statement from his side. However, UFC came forward to take ‘The Mystic Mac’s side.

In the midst of the media hubbub, Chief Business Officer of UFC Hunter Campbell in his statement mentioned USADA’s claims about ‘The Notorious’. Campbell did not like the way the USADA used McGregor to put forward a fake narrative about the UFC. Campbell said, “What they’ve done to him [McGregor] is disgusting. And for an entity that holds themselves out to have a level of honor and integrity, using him as a media vehicle to advance a fake narrative is disturbing, disgusting.”

In addition, the UFC has issued a warning to the USADA, hinting at potential legal repercussions. They’ve insisted on receiving a formal apology. With both organizations finding themselves in an uneasy situation, Campbell anticipates a complex working relationship over the upcoming months.
