O’Malley targeting champion vs. champion showdown with Ilia Topuria?

Sean O’Malley and Ilia Topuria have been on each other’s throats for quite some time now. Topuria through X (formerly Twitter) claimed that he asked the UFC for a fight with “Suga” but was denied citing that O’Malley would bring less PPV and he is only famous among teenagers. In response, the bantamweight champion claimed that he is the PPV king and needs some rest.

O’Malley further claimed that he did not understand Topuria’s reluctance to fight him. “Something I’ve never understood: I’m clearly, whether you guys f*cking agree or not, UFC thinks so, I’m potentially a massive star. I’m a star already, and if Ilia thinks I’m an easy fight, who’s a bigger fight than me? Conor would be a bigger fight, yes. Conor is not going to fight Ilia,” said O’Malley on the TimboSugarShow.

Down in the conversation, O’Malley claimed that if the Spaniard defeated Alexander Volkanovski then there would be a champ-champ match.“If he goes out there and beats Volk, and I go out there and beat ‘Chito,’ that fight’s happening next.”
