Current UFC flyweight queen Valentina Shevchenko shared her thoughts on free agent Kayla Harisson joining the UFC roster. There has been a lot of talk surrounding the PFL lightweight champ joining the UFC to compete at Bantamweight.

Harrison’s natural weight class seems to be 155, however, the UFC doesn’t have a lightweight division. Therefore, it is likely that she will have to drop down to compete in the UFC.

Shevchenko shared her thoughts on the PFL champ in a recent interview. She said, “I did not watch her fights, but I know she is kind of like finishing everyone in the first round, just smashing everyone.”

When asked what she thinks about all the hype and talk surrounding Harrison outside the UFC, she said, “Yea definitely it’s good for female sport, female martial art, you have like strong women in the UFC, outside the UFC, like everywhere it means like it’s so popular like around the world, so it’s just amazing.”

The ‘Bullet’ commented on the difficulty Harison will face in finding a potential opponent. She said, “Definitely, it’s very hard I think for her to find someone like really in high-level, because of the weight class. It not many girls who are like walking (with) their natural weight bigger. They can weigh more, but it doesn’t mean it’s their weight. It just means they carry some extra pounds on them.”

Shevchenko is an avid supporter of fighting at a weight class that is closest to what you walk around at naturally. Often fighters go up a weight class, but their body frame is still too small for the division.

Speaking on this, Shevchenko said, “I then say if you have your natural power and weight that much, every time it’s best for you.” Most fighters in the UFC do not have the build that Harrison has and so Shevchenko believes that and said, “Just my opinion, it will be very hard for her to find opponents in her natural weight class.”
