Valentina Shevchenko, the current Women’s Flyweight champion, successfully defended her title against Jessica Andrade. They fought at UFC 261 in front of 15,000 plus fans under the co-main event of Zhang Weili and Rose Namajunas.
‘The Bullet’ stopped Andrade in the second round by her nasty elbows. Andrade could not defend herself, as her back was on the ground. Therefore, the referee decided to end the fight. Shevchenko has defended her Flyweight title a total of five times in her last five fights.
She joined Low Kick MMA where she was asked if Zhang Weili moves up to 125lb. Will she fight her? In reply, Shevchenko said, “If she wants to go like 125, who can stop her? No one can stop her. It’s her decision. It’s like same what’s happened with Jessica right it’s like whatever but yeah she will have to have her fight to claim her ties that she’s ready for a title fight.”

‘Bullet’ continues, “This is how it’s supposed to be but yeah, and I know what she is thinking. I assume they are gonna have a rematch soon with Rose, so this is what it’s like next step. And after it, it is probably going to be something they will think about.”
Zhang Weili wants to fight Rose Namajunas in a rematch
Weili lost her Strawweight championship to Rose Namajunas on the same night when Valentina Shevchenko won against Jessica Andrade. Zhang Weili has shown her intentions of facing ‘Thug’ Rose in a rematch. She took her thoughts on social media by congratulating Namajunas and sharing her feeling after the loss.

Weili writes, “I want to congratulate Rose on her victory. She bounced back from her defeat. I believe I will also come back, only beat a great champion, to become a legend, and beat a legend. I will become a new me. Before, my goal was to win the UFC championship, but today, I have a higher goal than that. Thank you!
“It’s normal to lose and win. That’s the UFC. Andrade, Joanna, Rose have all lost and they all come back and try again. I have deepened my understanding of UFC today. So I believe I can come back. Hopefully, the UFC will schedule a rematch soon.”
