Imagine you’re the heavyweight champion of the world, having the time of your life in a different country. And you had an unfortunate altercation there. To avoid any controversies and problems from arising, you try to apologize and leave things right there. But the other guy has a different plan. He asks you to settle the score with a cup of coffee sometime. Weird right? Well, that’s exactly what happened with Jon Jones recently in Thailand.
Alovset Mamiev recently shared a video on Instagram that showed him having a confrontation with Jones. The visual begins with the heavyweight champion throwing a few animated fists at a man wearing black. That’s when Mamiev, who was wearing a T-shirt highlighting Fairtex, jumped off his scooter and confronted the Rochester resident. Mamiev said something in what seemed like Russian. And the cameraman said, “You want problem with this guy? You want problem?” That was when Jones ran away from the scene at full speed.
This sent the Russians into a laughing spree, and they called Jones back. ‘Bones’ simply said, “Brother, brother, no problem. No problem… Please, please, please. Sorry. No problem.” The reason was probably Mamiev’s MMA record. He’s a lightweight mixed martial artist from Russia who’s well-versed in Sambo. He has fought under the banners of Nashe Delo, Hype FC, and Hardcor MMA, and has a professional MMA record of 2-2 (Not considering his Nashe Delo wins). And that definitely doesn’t seem like a reason for the arguably undefeated UFC champion to be so scared.

Nevertheless, Mamiev captioned the post, “When you’re just riding your bike and suddenly [Jon Jones] comes running at you! 😂 Yes, that same UFC champion who seems to have decided that my bike is his new ring! Did we discuss the rules? No! 🙈 But I know for sure that in the next fight he won’t be able to say: «I didn’t know that wasn’t a sport!» 🤣.” And how does he wish to settle the scores? With coffee, of course. The Russian continued, “John, if you’re reading this, let’s meet for a cup of coffee rather than on the road – I’m not ready for that «first round»! ☕💪.”

And in case you’re still wondering, yes, this visual was indeed a skit. There are a few pictures on Mamiev’s Instagram profile that prove that he’s actually friends with Jones. Nevertheless, this wasn’t the only ‘altercation’ that the heavyweight champion had in Thailand. Wanna know about it all? Let’s go on then!

Jon Jones gets his patience tested repeatedly in Thailand
A footage recently went viral where Hasbulla was seen pummeling Jones during their stay in Thailand. The duo was, in fact, a part of ALF Reality, the Russian version of The Ultimate Fighter. But having a 3’5” celebrity swinging against Jones was something that no one really expected. Weighing in on that, the UFC heavyweight champion said, “Oh man, me and Hasbulla have been having a great time. We fight almost every single day, right now I’ve got a bloody lip, he may have kicked me in the mouth. But we have good times.”

But was Hasbulla strong enough to trouble ‘Bones’? He said, “Absolutely very strong, very strong. And he knows how to fight. Yeah, we have fun.” While this was as playful as it could get, not everything ends with a smile on people’s faces. And such a thing happened when a fighter wanted to play fight with Nate Diaz. Yes, the Stockton native was also a part of ALF Reality. However, it didn’t end well for Diaz.

Talking to Red Corner MMA, Jones revealed that one of the young Russian fighters, named Zalik, expressed his desire to play fight with Diaz. Unfortunately, Diaz was a bit on the edge. Jones’ guess? It was probably because of some previous unrest with the Russian fighters. And in the end, things went out of control. ‘Bones’ concluded, “Play fighting with Nate was not the best idea. It became serious right away and we had to replace Nate.”
