Ciryl Gane became the interim UFC heavyweight champion at UFC 265. He pummeled Derrick Lewis for two and a half rounds before eventually earning the finish in the third round. Gane will fight former teammate Francis Ngannou next in a title unification bout.

‘Bon Gamin’ trains out of the MMA Factory gym in Paris. He returned there after his triumphant outing in Houston Texas. Needless to mention, the French fighter got a warm welcome in his homeland. Many fans gathered to take pictures with the newest UFC champion.

Thank you everyone for this incredible moment, it warms my heart to see this craze, it was important for me to share this with you. Folded hands. And thank you MMA for giving us this kind of moment,” wrote Gane on Twitter alongside a video of him interacting with the fans. [translation via Google]

It was yet another flawless performance from Gane against ‘The Black Beast’. Many believed Lewis had the ability to upset the French fighter due to his devastating knockout power. However, Gane proved yet again he is head and shoulders above the current batch of UFC heavyweights.

He has now stretched his professional record to a perfect 10-0 with wins over the likes of Junior Dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Alexander Volkov, Derrick Lewis, and more.

But Ngannou hasn’t fought someone like Gane one might argue. Fans can’t wait to see the intriguing match-up take place. But it’s highly unlikely the fight will be booked before the end of 2021 or even the start of next year.
