UFC 275 saw two talented fighters from Europe compete on the card. While Jiri Prochazka became champion, Joanna Jędrzejczyk lost her fight. Even though they had mixed results, the duo raised the bar for European MMA. They ensured Europe is well established in the world of Mixed Martial Arts. However, this isn’t the first time the two have competed together on the same card.

A post on Twitter said, “This weekend won’t be the first time Joanna and Jiri shared a card together. One of the first times I saw either compete in MMA was on the fight nights global: battle of Moscow card back in 2013. They both looked a bit different.”

Since then, the two have been power houses for European MMA. While Joanna Jędrzejczyk retired, Jiri Prochazka has just become the UFC light heavyweight champion. However, the newly crowned champion already has contenders willing to fight him.

Jiri Prochazka called out after his win at UFC 275

It hasn’t been too long since Jiri Prochazka put up an impeccable fight against Glover Teixeira. Prochazka, in his bid for the title, displayed good striking and immense toughness. Not only did the fighter strike well, but he also put on a good grappling performance. Prochazka eventually submitted Teixeira, who is known for his grappling abilities, in round 5 of their fight.

While a lot of time hasn’t passed since their fight, the new champion has already started receiving call-outs. Former champion Glover Teixeira seems to want an immediate rematch with Jiri Prochazka. At one point where it seemed he would retire, Teixeira post-fight said he will continue. After the fight, the Brazilian fighter tweeted, “Rematch?? @jiri_bjp @danawhite @ufc”

Another fighter who called out Prochazka after his victory was former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz. The Polish fighter wants to put up the biggest fight in European history by facing Jiri Prochazka for the title. Blachowicz, in his tweet, said, “Jiri, let’s do this! The Battle for Europe. The biggest fight in the Continent’s history. @jiri_bjp @ufc @UFCEurope #UFC275

The newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka seems to have a lot on his platter. It will be interesting to see against whom Prochazka makes his first title defense when he returns to the UFC octagon.
