Julianna Pena just proved to the world that she’s not just words. The challenger had waited five years to secure a title fight.
Chiefly, the opening round saw Nunes dominating Pena with her signature strikes. Nunes was even successful in tackling her opponent, taking her down to the mat. Fans believed that ‘The Lioness’ was going for the finish in the opener itself, but Pena stood her ground and absorbed a flurry of punches.
After ending the first round bruised and beaten, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ made a stunning comeback against ‘The Lioness’ in the 2nd round. She continuously made contact with Nunes’ face and landed jabs that stunned the champion.
Astounded fans watched the fight as they saw Nunes get hit with punch after punch and wobble. As the round progressed, Pena landed decisive blows on Nunes and downed her opponent. Subsequently, she locked in the rear-naked choke to snap the Brazilian’s 12 fight-win streak.
