Jeremy Stephens and Drakkar Klose are set to lock horns in an enticing clash in the UFC’s lightweight division in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs Gastelum. Tempers flared at the weigh-in face-offs of the event as things got physical between the hard-hitters.

Klose got a bit too close to Stephens than the latter would have liked. He almost pushed his opponent off the stage. Any further altercation was stopped as the security intervened. The duo looked absolutely fired up and poised to throw down whenever the fight starts.

Stephens is considered one of the hardest-hitting 145 pounders on the planet. However, he is making a move up to lightweight after not winning in his last 5 fights. Losses to Jose Aldo, Zabit Magomedsharipov, Yair Rodriguez, and Calvin Kattar have stopped his progress in the featherweight division.

‘Lil Heathen’ was on a 3-fight winning streak against the likes of Gilbert Melendez, Doo Ho Choi, and Josh Emmett prior to that. Stephens has been fighting in the UFC since 2007 and his highlight-reel is scary, to say the least. When he knocks people out, they don’t move afterward.

Klose, on the other hand, is coming off a knockout loss against Beneil Dariush. A UFC veteran since 2017, the 33-year-old fighter has earned some important wins against the likes of Marc Diakiese, Lando Vannata, Bobby Green, and more during his run in the organization.

Jeremy Stephens vs Drakkar Klose: Final analysis

Stephens can beat anybody in his weight class on his day. However, he tends to fold in the biggest fights of his career. Consistency has been a major issue in his career so far. Against an opponent like Klose, ‘Lil Heathen‘ will have to be switched on from the start. Also, he suffered a brutal knockout loss to Kattar in his last fight. How much he has recovered from that remains to be seen.

Also, how Stephens fares at lightweight is not yet known. As for Klose, he will look to catapult to the higher echelon of the 155lbs division with a win over an experienced campaigner. However, it’s easier said than done.
