Dan Hooker recently took on Islam Makhachev at UFC 267. The highly anticipated fight, which Hooker took on short notice, ended in the first round. Makhachev won the fight in under three minutes via a technical submission. The Russian fighter had his long-time training partner, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and social media personality, Hasbulla Magomedov, in his corner.

After the dominant victory, Makhachev and his team celebrated with Hasbulla inside the octagon. Nurmagomedov even had him up on his shoulders. After the fight, and during the celebrations, ‘The Eagle‘ and Hasbulla went to ‘The Hangman’ to pay their respects to him.

The internet sensation was at UFC 267 to support Islam Makhachev. During the buildup to the fight, ‘The Hangman’ made a comment on Hasbulla. Hooker even received a response from Hasbulla.

What does the future hold for Islam Makhachev?

The Russian fighter continued his undefeated run with a dominant victory over Dan Hooker. Makhachev took him down at the first opportunity and finished the fight in no time. After sprawling and fighting for position for some time, he caught Hooker’s arm and locked in a kimura lock to get the tap.

Since the announcement of the fight, Nurmagomedov along with many others have been demanding a title shot for Makhachev. Many believe that he has done enough to earn a title fight. And after a performance like that, it is hard to argue with the demands.

However, the lightweight division right now has a lot of contenders. UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier will fight for the belt at UFC 269. Then there’s Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler, who will fight at UFC 268, and the winner will want a shot at the belt as well. Also, there is Beneil Dariush who is on a seven-fight win streak.
