Rising Dagestani prospect Umar Nurmagomedov secured a magnificent submission over Brian Kelleher at UFC 272: Covington vs. Masvidal. This saw him extend his unbeaten streak to 14.

The Dagestani last won against Sergey Morozov at UFC Fight Night: Chiesa vs. Magny on January 20th in a bantamweight setting. However, featherweight did not prove to be an issue for the 26-year-old.

The fight started with Umar Nurmagomedov landing an impressive flurry of front kicks. Meanwhile, Kelleher, who was wary of Umar’s takedown threats, did his best to defend these attempts.

Eventually, Kelleher’s resistance ended as Nurmagomedov demonstrated his superior grappling skills and finally took the fight to the mat.

In the fourth minute of the final early prelim bout, Khabib’s protégé took hold of Kelleher’s back and secured a rear-naked choke to end Kelleher’s two-fight win streak. ‘Boom’, currently 24-13, had beaten Domingo Pilarte and Kevin Croom in his last two appearances.
