The fight took place on the 23rd of October at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas. Costa and Vettori squared off in a five-round, light heavyweight fight. Vettori took the fight despite the fact that his opponent, Costa, couldn’t make the weight for their bout. The fight was originally supposed to be fought at middleweight but had to be changed to light heavyweight. This is because Paulo Costa said that he wouldn’t be able to cut it to 186 lbs. Although he was heavier, Costa appeared quick in his movements and appeared to be doing well in the fight, but Vettori’s chin and his pace were too much for Costa to conquer.

Back in his hometown in Italy, the people of Mezzocorona celebrated the Italian Dream’s victory over ‘The Eraser’.

At UFC 271, Israel Adesanya will square off against Robert Whittaker for the middleweight belt. Vettori will most probably face the winner of this fight for the belt, as he is next in line on the rankings.
