No. Nate Diaz wasn’t in an official match and arrived at UFC 276: Adesanya vs Cannonier as a spectator. In a video on YouTube, Diaz, who was hanging out backstage, was approached by a ‘Full Send’ reporter. The reporter said, “Stockton’s finest Nate Diaz is come to check out Suga Sean right?”

Diaz whispered something to the reporter, after which he slapped him twice. While one slap landed on the reporter’s mic, the other landed on the face as the reporter’s cap fell away. The slaps didn’t seem to have malicious intent behind them.

The saga started when the UFC fighter tweeted a video of Jake Paul knocking out Tyron Woodley. In the caption, he asked the UFC to give him a fight or to release him. Diaz wrote, “Ufc release now please or give me fight with anyone in July or august I have bigger s**t to do.”

UFC President Dana White reacted to this tweet, saying, “He probably should go on and fight Jake Paul. ” Right after White made this statement, Diaz, in another tweet, requested to be released. He wrote, “Send the release.
