Buffer is probably one of the most famous announcers in combat sports history. He is the brother of the famous Michael Buffer. Michael is a boxing and professional wrestling ring announcer. He’s famous for his catchphrase, ‘Let’s Get Ready To Rumble.’ Just like Michael, Bruce has also made his catchphrase ‘It’s Time’ famous.

Having been part of so many UFC events, the fans are used to hearing Bruce and he rarely makes any mistakes. In fact, his mistakes can be counted on one hand. However, he has made mistakes while making an announcement, and one such blunder happened after a title fight. After a closely contested co-main event between Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson, Buffer made a mistake. The two men had a very close fight and two judges scored the contest a draw and one gave the fight to Woodley.

However, Buffer declared the contest as a split decision win for Woodley but was in fact a majority draw. Buffer corrected his mistake during the champion’s post-fight interview, which obviously had Woodley confused.

Other mistakes made by Bruce Buffer

UFC 205 was not the first time Buffer made such a mistake. Buffer very rarely makes a mistake but made one back in 2013. While announcing the winner of Jim Miller vs. Pat Healy, Buffer declared Miller as the winner instead of Healy and first. He instantly realized his mistake and corrected himself.

In a statement, he talked about it and said, “They both had a beard and whatever. You’ll see me sometimes on camera where I’m always watching fights, but I have to make a bunch of notes, and I have to prepare for the next fight on the table. So I was looking down and the fight ended so quick, and it ended in a submission, and they both had the beards, and they both looked similar, and I accidentally named the other fighter the winner.”

Despite these two mistakes, he is one of the most loved announcers ever. And even after 25 years in the business, he doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
