Some of the biggest names on the promotion’s roster have also had a disagreement on this topic. Long-time UFC commentator Joe Rogan, in one of his podcasts, gave his insight on why the issue keeps coming up.

He said, “Right now, in particular, there’s probably less money because there’s no gate. There’s no live gate, and that’s an extreme amount of money. But there’s also fighters that agree to certain deals. They agree to like an eight-fight deal at x amount per fight.”

“Then they become more popular and then they want to renegotiate their deal. And the UFC is like, look, we’re just trying to stay open. We’re not gonna renegotiate anything. You can take it or you can leave it. I think it is a matter of that.”

Rogan agreed fighters should be paid. He said, “But looking at it from the fighters’ perspective, fighters would be certainly better off if there was more competition. That’s always how it works. So, whether it is Bellator or ONE FC, or all these different companies, the more of those there are, the more World Series of Fighting, the more Professional Fighting League, whatever the f**k it is called now. The more of those rise, the better it is for everyone… I think they should get paid more. I think everybody should get paid more. But it is also a business.”

Jake Paul issued a challenge to Dana White on UFC fighter pay

Jake Paul has been at the forefront of the fighter pay issue. He has questioned Dana White on multiple occasions, with White not taking any of his jibes seriously. However, recently ‘The Problem Child‘ took to Twitter to lay down a challenge for the UFC President.

In the challenge, he asked White to increase the minimum fighter pay per fight to $50,000. He also asked him to guarantee the UFC fighters 50 percent of the annual revenue.

White didn’t respond to the challenge, but laid down a challenge of his own. Both men went back-and-forth, without coming to an actual conclusion. The UFC head honcho in a recent interview said that he won’t be discussing or talking about Paul anymore. But said that he has his respect and also left the door for Paul fighting in the UFC open.
