Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler will battle it out for the lightweight title at UFC 262. The co-main event will see yet another stellar clash in the lightweight division go down. Former interim lightweight champion, Tony Ferguson, will fight Beneil Dariush in an important contest.

During the event’s pre-fight press conference, ‘El Cucuy’ and ‘Iron’ got involved in a spat. Ferguson, who was once on a 12-fight winning streak in the 155 lbs division of the UFC, didn’t believe Chandler deserved to fight for the title just yet after just one fight in the organization.

You f**king dodged me too Chandler,” said Ferguson. “Hey, that’s not true,” Chandler replied. “Every f**king person here except for this guy that’s sitting next to me, I wanna be real man,” Ferguson added, pointing to Oliveira.

Hey, that’s not true Tony,” said Chandler. “You could have fought me on January 23 and I would have done the same thing he has done to you,” he added.

Hey man, you f**king said no man. I wanna be real. You got this sh*t handed to you. You got Dana White privilege,” said Ferguson in an epic reply that had the UFC President burst out in laughter. “Ohhh! Tony! Thanks, Dana,” Chandler replied. “It’s all love baby,” Ferguson said further.

It’s understandable where Ferguson is coming from. He has been one of the pillars of the UFC’s lightweight division throughout the last decade. Yet, he has never fought for the undisputed belt. Meanwhile, Chandler, who has one UFC fight, will scrap for gold. So, it’s understandable why ‘El Cucuy’ targeted ‘Iron’.

Is Tony Ferguson vs Michael Chandler bound to happen?

There’s a huge possibility that Chandler and Ferguson might clash in near future. If both fighters get a win this weekend, the promotion could very well book ‘El Cucuy’ for an undisputed title bout.

However, both men will have stern challenges in front of them. So, it’s better for either fighter to focus on the job at hand, as of now. But a future match-up looks very likely in all scenarios.
