Khabib Nurmagomedov was not in the UFC ring corner when Islam Makhachev fought Alexander Volkanovski. However, ‘The Eagle’ watched the fight from his home and called the current lightweight champ moments after the fight. Recently, Islam Makhachev posted a picture with the 29-0 record holder with the caption “Fight Analysis”.

It was a simple picture of Nurmagomedov and Makhachev sitting side by side. Minutes after Makhachev posted the picture, ‘The Eagle’ re-shared it on his story with a heartfelt message. The message was written in Nurmagomedov’s native Russian language but it was translated to English as –

“Examine your heart carefully and ask yourself where is your friendship with your friends, if it’s worldly, then wait for the friendship to end.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov has been in Islam Makhachev’s corner in all of his big fights at UFC. However, ‘The Eagle’ had announced earlier this year that he was stepping away from coaching. The main reason being highlighted for this decision is UFC HOFer’s will to spend more time with his family.

However, Makhachev received a FaceTime call from Nurmagomedov soon after the fight where the ‘The Eagle’ was heard asking Makhachev “Hey, why don’t you do this, this and this?”

This was the first fight Makhachev had without Nurmagomedov in his corner. The friendship between Nurmagomedov and Makhachev is truly one of a kind, and MMA fans will surely remember it for a very long time.
