Wanderlei Silva is one of those figures a lot of fans love to hate. Silva, known by his terrifying moniker ‘The Axe Murderer’ was infamous for his brash personality as much he was for known his brutality inside the Octagon. From his beefs with Charles ‘Krazy Horse’ Bennet and Chael Sonnen (remember the infamous TUF Brazil moment?), to reportedly refusing to comply with the NSAC for PED testing, Silva is by some accounts a divisive figure in MMA. So it was no surprise that some folks trolled the lights out (literally) of Wanderlei Silva for what happened at his boxing exhibition match at Spaten Fight Night 2 in São Paulo this Saturday.

As soon as the referee signalled the end to the fight, both Wanderlei Silva and his opponent, former boxing champion Acelino Freitas‘s teams charged the ring. A lot of punches were thrown, and unfortunately, Silva found himself in the middle of the brawl. As others were throwing punches and pushing each other, Silva stood in the ring, trying to calm things down.

However, Wanderlei Silva would get struck clean on the chin with a punch that took him by surprise, resulting in his getting knocked out cold. But the worst part of the whole incident was the fact that, despite Silva lying unconscious in the ring, the brawl continued. The officials would later tend to the MMA legend while also trying to put an end to the brawl and get things back in order.

The viral video of Wanderlei Silva getting knocked out did not just garner attention from the fans, but also from a UFC star. As shocked as the community was, fans and members also stated that this was a pretty bad look for the MMA legend. Here’s what they had to say.

The incident took the whole fighting world aback, with UFC’s featherweight fighter, Jean Silva, writing, “WTF,” on X. Other fans also shared their reactions, claiming that this was a pretty embarrassing moment for Wanderlei Silva. “F—. They punched Wanderlei, and he passed out in the ring. What an embarrassment,” one of those fans wrote. Similarly, another fan expressed that there is no place for such behavior in combat sports, as he wrote, “You absolutely hate to see it.”

Well, the way Wanderlei Silva was laid out had fans concerned about his health. He’s not a spring chicken anymore, and as such, one fan wrote, “They just k*lled Wanderlei Silva in the ring.” However, a certain section of fans continued to call out the legend for the embarrassing incident, with one of them writing, “Wanderlei Silva getting knocked out… and it wasn’t even by Popó kkkkkkkkkk what a shameful thing oh my god,” on X.

Similarly, another fan shared his take on the situation, taking aim at Wanderlei Silva for getting disqualified. Also, the fact that he was knocked out by someone who appeared to be a security guard, given that he was wearing a suit, also had fans taking a swipe at the legend for not being able to handle him, even though he’s the fighter there.

“Wanderlei should be ashamed of losing via DQ and then getting brutally ko in a post fight brawl at 50 years old… He let the security guards get too close,”, a subtle nod to the infamous “I can’t let you get close” moment between him and Chael Sonnen from TUF Brazil: 3.
