Tough night ahead for Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev as their teammate suffered a brutal defeat, getting dominated by Kaue Fernandes. UFC Fight Night 255 kicked off in style at London’s O2 Arena, but it wasn’t a good day to be Georgian. Guram Kutateladze was outclassed both on the feet and the mat by the Brazilian. As Topuria and Chimaev escorted their fallen comrade from the Octagon, fans wasted no time drawing comparisons to Team Khabib, adding fuel to the fire.

‘The Georgian Viking’s career may be in serious problems now because he has been defeated thrice in his last 5 UFC endeavors. UFC Fight Night 255 was his chance to prove his mettle under the UFC banner but it appears that the promotion might have to part ways with the fighter.  With UFC stars Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev intently observing from Kutateladze’s corner, the atmosphere brimmed with anticipation.

The pressure to succeed caught Kutateladze, the Brazilian took advantage of this as he defeated ‘The Georgian Viking’ by way of a unanimous decision. Well, his defeat might have caught a wildfire not for him but for Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev. After sheer dominance from Fernandes, the judges finally scored the fight in his favor.

At the octagonal interview, the Brazilian expressed his satisfaction with his performance, saying, “I am so happy with this performance. I’ve dreamt of this moment all my life.” With this victory, Fernandes is now 2-1 in his last three UFC appearances. While the Brazilian might enjoy a good night’s sleep, Kutateladze, along with Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev, will now have to face the wrath of the fans.

Fans tear apart Guram Kutateladze teammates after UFC Fight Night 255 fallout

Having Khamzat Chimaev and Ilia Topuria in your corner would mean the pressure of victory weighs on you like a mountain. Their presence might give you an advantage, but it won’t help you win the fight if you’re a subpar fighter. Looking at this a fan wrote, “Guram has good company in Khamzat and ilia but they can’t fight for you.” Furthermore, another fan was confused by why would Chimaev and Topuria take the chance to stand beside Kutateladze, “Why khamzat with Ilia!??? Why!?”

After Merab Dvalishvili won his battle against Umar Nurmagomedov at UFC 311, Ilia Topuria blatantly took to his X handle and emphasized that Team Khabib should send him to Georgia for 2-3 years since his wrestling was not up to up-to-the-mark. Fast forward to March, Topuria might be getting the taste of his own medicine, “Send Georgia  and the team 2, 3 years to Dagestan and forget”

A fan claimed that Ilia Topuria and Khamzat Chimaev attempted to emulate Khabib Nurmagomedov’s style of supporting his team by walking out with them and staying in their corner, “Team Wannabe.” Furthermore, another fan highlighted the same, “Everyone is trying Dagestan-team-like now.” Last but not the least, a social media user emphasized that Ilia Topuria and Chimaev are trying their best to impersonate a fraction of what Khabib Nurmagomedov was, “Wanna Be khabib’s”

With this defeat, Guram Kutateladze’s career might be at cross roads, and the UFC fight not give him another chance to redeem himself. Given that, what are your thoughts on his performance? State your opinion in the comments below.
