The UFC veteran fighter Glover Teixeira faced the light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz at UFC 267. This was the second title fight of Teixeira’s UFC career.

The Brazilian light heavyweight fighter won the fight via submission in the second round of the bout. He became the oldest 42-year first-time champion in UFC history. Many UFC fans and Teixeira’s supporters shared a moment of joy after his victory.

A former light heavyweight champion and Teixeira’s long-time friend, Chuck Liddell, tuned in to watch his clash for the gold strap. Later, a video of him screaming in joy went viral after the 42-year-old won his first UFC gold. It was an amazing reaction from the former champion.

Liddell and Teixeira are former training partners. The former won the light heavyweight gold in 2005 after defeating Randy Couture. However, Teixeira, even after a long career in the promotion, was yet to become the champion.

Surprisingly to some, he made it come true at UFC 267 last weekend. Liddell also posted on his official Instagram to congratulate his friend. He wrote, “Love you, brother! So proud of you and your hard work”

Glover Teixeira: Journey to the UFC Gold

The Brazilian light heavyweight fighter Glover Teixeira is one of the most prominent names in the UFC. With a record of  33-7, Teixeira is considered one of the most experienced fighters on the roster. However, he had never won a UFC gold under his name until now.

The 42-year-old earned his first-ever UFC title shot when he was on an eight-fight undefeated streak. Unfortunately, Teixeira lost to Jon Jones at UFC 172 in 2014.

Despite the loss, Teixeira stayed determined in his quest for gold. However, he had few setbacks in his UFC career until 2018. The 42-year-old went on a winning streak in 2019 and won back-to-back fights.
