The phrase in this video came in from an original interview given by Yoel Romero to The MacLife, a day prior to his UFC 248 fight against middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.

The MacLife framed this sentence in a way relating to Yoel Romero’s biggest mistake in life was inking a deal with the UFC and which is predominantly why the 43-year-old has left the promotion in a flash.

In this original footage, the reporter asks Romero what was the biggest mistake he made in his life and what did he learn from it. Romero responds with his eccentric one-liner.

Yoel Romero, the most loved UFC fighter who never won a title

The ‘Soldier of God’ debuted with the promotion in 2013. He bagged millions of fans by winning 8 fights. Romero captivated the UFC audience with his flying knees, solid elbows, and vicious TKO’s. He was a true finisher who never enjoyed taking his fights to the scorecards. Securing a win over him was considered a greater feat than winning the title itself.

Out of his many exciting battles, fans still consider the fight with Whittaker as the best of his career. The duo stepped into the octagon twice and Whittaker won both on judges’ scorecards. Despite going down, ‘Soldier of God’ put on an exhilarating show for his fans.

Yoel Romero contended for the interim, and undisputed middleweight title four times, but never won. He last fought for the belt in March ’20 against Adesanya. Both of them were fairly criticized for not putting on an exciting battle for the fans as they distanced themselves from each other throughout the bout. In retrospect, this was his final UFC fight.

Fans will hope to see the ‘Soldier of God’ soon in action at a different MMA promotion. What has been your favorite highlight of Romero’s UFC career?
