Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest names in MMA. He is the former lightweight champion of UFC and has a perfect undefeated MMA record under his name. However, the Dagestan native had a humble beginning.

From the mountains of Dagestan to the UFC cage, ‘The Eagle’ has come a long way. He defeated some of the most prominent names in the promotion in the process of becoming one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Consequently, the Russian-born became a star of the promotion. He has worked closely with the UFC head honcho Dana White to sell some of the highest pay-per-view in the history of the promotion.
Even though he has his own MMA venture today, ‘The Eagle’ shares a good relationship with the UFC President. Interestingly, the former champion shared an auspicious moment even at his first meeting with Dana White.

“Unbelievable. This kid is impressive. Tough. A tough, tough, tough kid here.” White said after seeing the Russian fighter.

Fortunately, ‘The Eagle’ retired with a star status from professional fighting and has stated never to return. This came after his father/coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov’s death in 2020.
However, he is carrying his father’s torch now. The Dagestan native is leading his teammate, cousins, and friends for their MMA career.

After his retirement from professional fighting, ‘The Eagle’ is coaching Islam Makhachev, Umar Nurmagomedov, Usman Nurmagomedov, and Abubakar Nurmagomedov for their career.

From all of them, currently, Makhachev is at the peak of his career. Under the guidance of Nurmagomedov, he has gradually improved his performances. Notably, Makhachev is on a ten-fight undefeated streak and very close to getting a title shot.

Apparently, it was the dream of Khabib’s father to see Makhachev become a UFC champion after Khabib retires. The former champion revealed it in an interview with UFC. Considering Makhachev’s recent run in the promotion, it seems ‘The Eagle’ is very close to achieving his father’s dream.
