The friendship between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Daniel Cormier has given us many hilarious exchanges. It was probably because of this that the UFC chose Cormier to honor the UFC lightweight champ with the Fan’s choice Submission of the Year Award. As expected, the encounter between the two ended brought a smile to the viewer’s face.

The fans chose Nurmagomedov’s submission win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 as the Submission of the Year for 2020. Khabib extended his win streak to 29 in his professional career as he submitted Gaethje via a mounted triangle choke.

Ahead of this past weekend’s UFC 257 event, Nurmagomedov was also present on Fight Island. Therefore, it was appropriate for him to receive the accolade. Former UFC light heavyweight champion and Nurmagomedov’s stablemate, Daniel Cormier, took the latter by surprise as he presented him the award.

Khabib Nurmagomedov hilariously mocks Daniel Cormier for his fat legs

Nurmagomedov and Cormier have played a pivotal role in each other’s success. Over the years, the two have shaped each other as the fighters that they eventually became. All those hours of hard work in the American Kickboxing Academy have forged a friendship like no other.

Despite the respect between the two, the duo never spares a chance to pull each other’s legs. The same was on full display when Cormier presented the award to Khabib. Cormier started off by asserting that it was the training that he gave to the Russian champ that played a role in winning the honor. Nurmagomedov was quick to fire back by saying that Cormier’s legs are probably too fat to lock in a triangle choke.
