UFC fighters are elite-level athletes and have insane work ethics. They endure high-intensity workouts to get their physical and mental health to the peak level. Likewise, professional strongmen put a lot of time into framing their bodies and building inhumane strength. However, one can not compete with the other. It was on display when Dustin Poirier and Brian Shaw trained together.
Last year, the two world-class professionals came together when the world’s strongest man tried his hands in Dustin Poirier’s world. ‘The Diamond‘ showed the strongman how to throw his hands and kick on the heavy bag. Though Shaw had power in his punches, the fluidity was not there.

And when the grappling session was on, ‘The Diamond’ easily tapped the multi-time world’s strongest man, Shaw. Poirier is a lightweight fighter and fights as low as 155 lbs. Yet, he could easily best a strongman since he’s a jiujitsu blackbelt.

Even though Shaw suggested he ‘saw that one coming,’ he couldn’t do anything but tap to the rear-naked choke.
Afterward, the UFC fighter taught the strongman about side control and gave him the position. To the surprise of many, Poirier struggled to get out of the position. And when the lightweight fighter used the butterfly hooks to separate and move laterally, the strongman moved with Poirier.

Eventually, Shaw took Poirier’s back and said, “I feel like it’s a great position.”
Poirier, from the bottom, acknowledged, “It’s a great position.”
After getting into the dominant position, Shaw wrapped his hands around Poirier’s neck. And, the UFC fighter realizing there was a weight miss-match tapped to get out of the position. Although, the strongman appeared gassed after the grappling session as well.

‘El Diamanté’ would miss no chance to pull off a guillotine choke, but when it comes to RNCs, Poirier has a rather bittersweet history with the move.
Dustin Poirier has lost his last two undisputed UFC lightweight championship fights, against Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira, via a rear-naked choke. ‘The Diamond’ often jokes with fans about how brutal this particular choke is.
