“Revenge is best served cold”. This saying is the best exemplification of an absolutely amazing scene that took place at the UFC Vegas 65. The year’s first UFC event entailed some incredible fights with a number of memorable moments along. Especially one of its prelims fights, which stood out for multiple reasons. The fight between Javid Basharat vs. Mateus Mendonça served as one of the most exciting fights of the UFC fight night. However, as amazing as the fight was, it was its aftermath moment that has absolutely stunned the UFC fanbase, making them label it as the ‘coldest’ moment they’ve ever witnessed. The Afghan fighter appeared to be harboring resentment over one of his Brazilian opponent’s theatrics from before the fight and gave him the taste of his own medicine after winning the bout.

As far as the bout goes, both the fighters came in with undefeated records, but one of them had to lose their ‘0’ from under the losing index, and that was the 23-year-old Mateus Mendonça. However, it was not an easy win for the 27-year-old whatsoever. The first round appeared to be favoring Mendonça as he started off wildly, wherein Javid Basharat took his time to understand the workings of his opponent while not losing ground.

In the second round, ‘Bocão’ had his momentary successes against ‘The Snow Leopard’, but couldn’t have any significant dominance against him. At last, in the third round, both the highly touted bantamweight prospects made their attempts with takedowns and strikes. However, the 27-year-old eventually overpowered the 23-year-old and took home the victory, handing Mateus Mendonça his first defeat. He gave the Brazilian a taste of his own medicine.

This, the UFC fans believe, is the best moment from the first UFC event of the year. And we can see why.

The 27-year-old talked about the fight and said, “Performance could’ve been better. But to be honest with you, he(Mateus Mendonça) is tough. He’s gonna do very well in the UFC. He’s just a bit young and I knew that coming into the fight. I didn’t underestimate him. And I had to do what I had to do to get the win.”

He further stated that he deserves a ranked fighter next. “I don’t know. The fans tell me. Am I getting ahead of myself… I’m taking these risky fights. These are all risky fights. Heavy hitters, wrestlers. If I’m not already in the top 15, I need a ranked guy next. But I feel like I should be in the top 15.”, said Basharat.
