Nurmagomedov and his father have always been in Makhachev’s corner throughout his career. They were also present at UFC 192 when Makhachev took on Adriano Martins and suffered his only career loss.
This bout took place all the way back in 2015 and was Makhachev’s second fight in the promotion. Both Makhachev and Martins were on the come-up at the time, so booking this fight made sense.
