When it comes to fighting, Khamzat Chimaev is one of the most dominant welterweight fighters inside the cage. However, he is a very charismatic person with a funny persona outside the cage. That said, Chimaev recently showed his other side during the UFC 273 press conference today.

After months of wait, the Russian-born mauler returns to action this Saturday at UFC 273. He will take on the number two ranked welterweight fighter Gilbert Burns on the main card of the pay-per-view.
Ahead of the big fight, both the welterweight combatants appeared at the pre-fight press conference today. This got a little heated as both Chimaev and Burns took a shot at each other during the presser. However, ‘Borz’ also displayed his funny side during the conference.

At a point in the conference, a reporter asked Chimaev about his early meeting with his opponent inside the hotel lobby. To which, the Russian-born joked that he didn’t listen to the question as he was playing games on his phone.

Even after asking for the second time, Chimaev snubbed the question and made the present audience burst into laughter. He said, “What did you say again? I don’t hear brother (shows his phone) I am playing, one-second brother.”
Is Khamzat Chimaev close to a title shot?
Ever since his debut in the promotion, Khamzat Chimaev has been asking for a title shot. However, earlier the 27-year-old welterweight fighter wasn’t among the top-15 of the division. Hence, a title fight wasn’t under his radar.

But after four straight dominant wins in the division, Chimaev has proved his point. Many already believe that he can be the next champion in the UFC. ‘Borz’ currently stands number eleven on the 170lbs roster. And he is carrying a lot of hype around himself, as he is just a day away from his big fight.
Although he has four wins under his name, it wasn’t against a top UFC contender. However, his next fight, Gilbert Burns, is among the top 5 welterweights. And a win in this fight will surely make Chimaev worthy of a title shot next.
