If there’s one name in the history of MMA, that resonates with the fans, in terms of popularity, it’s Conor McGregor. “The Notorious” is an anomaly in that regard. Any record in the UFC that revolves around money, there’s almost a 100% possibility that it’s held by McGregor. 

Since the early days of McGregor’s career, he became a fan favorite. Whether it was his accent or his brash confidence, fans bought everything he says and does.

What is also very fascinating, is the fact that he predicted everything he was going to do; Thus giving himself the name of “Mystic Mac”. From a fight to his life, he had a prediction for everything he said he was gonna do. 

The Mystic Mac and His Predictions

In an interview back in 2013, on The Late Late Show, McGregor reflected upon the hardships he had to face being a plumber. He talked about, how after 18 months of working as an apprentice, he decided to turn his life around. He said, “I just realized I didn’t want to go down that route. You know what I mean. I thought I could do something with my life and I knew I had the ability to make it into this game. You know what I mean.”

After this, “Mystic Mac” talked about the predictions he had made about his life during that time. He said, “ …and then obviously now that I’m making money, I went back and I said, well I told you what I was going do.”

The interviewer asked Conor, “What did you… your dad..did you make a pledge to them that you’re gonna be big, you’re gonna be a star?”

To this, McGregor replied, “Yeah, I said to him..my dad..I said listen, by the time I’m 25 years old I’m going to be a self-made millionaire”. On being enquired how was old he was, he said, “I’m 24.”

The whole studio roared with applause. Conor’s mother and his wife who were present in the crowd, had their faces glowing with a smile. They knew that their son/husband had achieved, whatever he said he was going to do. 

Conor McGregor Backed everything he said

McGregor further went on to become the first fighter in the history of UFC to hold two belts simultaneously, the first fighter to have knockout victories in three different divisions. Other accolades that surround the champ are, most PPV buys for a fight in the UFC, most PPV buys of all times, and most PPVs with more than one million buys.

To add the cherry on top, ‘ Notorious’ was also a part of the biggest fight in the history of boxing, against Floyd Mayweather. The bout did a whopping 4.3 million buys. On that very night, the Irishman took home more than $100 million.
