Alexander Volkanovski, the featherweight champion, celebrated his third successful title defense at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida, with the famous ‘shoey’ celebration.

‘The Great’ clashed against ‘The Korean Zombie’ in the main event of UFC 273 to defend his featherweight title. After the first few exchanges, it was clear that Volkanovski will give a tough time to the South Korean fighter inside the cage.
However, ‘The Korean Zombie‘ absorbed the heavy blows from the champion and was on his feet for most of the time. But then came the fourth round, and ‘The Great’ just had enough.

He then unleashed a vicious combination that forced the referee, Herb Dean, to jump in and stop the fight in the fourth round. Later, Volkanovski celebrated his win with a shoey.

The official Instagram page of UFC uploaded a video of the featherweight champion doing the shoey. Many famous Aussie athletes, including UFC heavyweight star Tai Tuivasa and Formula 1 racer Daniel Ricciardo, do this celebration in their respective sports.

Alexander Volkanovski is currently one of the greatest featherweights in the promotion. He is undefeated in the UFC and made his third successful title defense today.

Earlier, ‘The Great’ was scheduled to take on the former champion Max Holloway at UFC 273. This fight could have been a blockbuster trilogy fight. However, the latter pulled out of the bout because of an injury.

Volkanovski has fought almost all the fighters from the top-5 except the number three and five. However, Holloway still stands at the number one spot in the title race.
Hence, this trilogy makes sense for now, after ‘Blessed’ recovers from his injury. However, we will still have to wait for any official announcement from the UFC.
