WATCH: When Conor McGregor Almost Enraged Vladimir Putin’s Bodyguard in 2018

Conor McGregor, the former UFC two-division champion, is one of the most prominent names in sports. He is regarded by many as the greatest fighter to ever grace the UFC octagon by many.

‘The Notorious’ put the UFC on the world map. He grabbed a lot of attention from around the globe for his stunning performance and also for his charismatic personality. McGregor has a huge fans base on social media.

The Irishman is one of the million stars who made a fortune through the sport. He today is the highest-paid athlete in the world. McGregor, after his debut in UFC, leapfrogged the division by defeating some of the best fighters.

During his initial years, ‘The Notorious’ looked invincible and had no fear of any of his opponents. However, he had a very tense movement during his meeting with one of the greatest leaders of the world, Vladimir Putin.

McGregor met the Russian president at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on July 15, 2018. He was there to witness France and Croatia compete in the finale of the FIFA World Cup.

During their meeting, both the men had small talk and after that, they posed for a picture. However, while posing the former UFC champion, put his arm on Putin’s shoulder. This gesture didn’t sit well with the Russian president’s bodyguard.

And the guard immediately told McGregor to remove his hand. This created an awkward situation. Also, McGregor’s facial expression changed, and the fighter looked a little tense.

What is Conor McGregor up to now?

‘The Notorious’ had a glorious career in the UFC. However, after his boxing match in 2017, the Irishman saw a huge downfall in his career. He has won only one fight in his last four bouts.

McGregor faced two losses last year against his arch-rival Dustin Poirier. The latter knocked out the former champion in the second round in their rematch clash at UFC 257.

Later, the Irishman suffered a devastating leg injury in his trilogy fight with Poirier at UFC 264. Consequently, the former UFC two-division champion is out of action. However, he has recovered and might soon be back to the octagon this year.
