Conor McGregor is one of the most successful UFC fighters of all time. A crucial factor behind his success is his ability to put on spectacular fighting displays. The witty Irishman’s microphone skills enable him to entertain fans during the build-up of his fights while getting under his opponent’s skin with relentless trash talk.
As McGregor found success in the UFC, he made quite a few rivals as well. One notable name on that list is UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier.

Despite having two losses in three bouts against Poirier, McGregor considers the business unfinished. On the anniversary of their first meeting, ‘The Notorious’ one had a grim message for his longtime rival.
Conor McGregor sends a stern warning to Dustin Poirier
Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier fought for the first time on September 27, 2014, as featherweights. The pair went back and forth on the mic throughout the lead-up to the fight. McGregor, in his ‘Mystic Mac’ fashion, predicted a first-round K.O. of Poirier and delivered on his promise on the fight night. This performance boosted him into the title picture in the UFC featherweight division.
Now, on the anniversary of their fight eight years hence, McGregor had a message for Poirier in a later deleted Instagram story. ‘The Notorious’ shared a picture of the aftermath of the bout with the words “Watch your back for life”.

McGregor absolutely decimated ‘The Diamond’ in their first fight but hasn’t been able to repeat the feat. The pair faced each other for a second time at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi. This time they fought at lightweight, with a potential title fight rematch against Khabib Nurmagomedov on the line for McGregor. After a competitive first round, Poirier knocked out McGregor in the second round, becoming the first man to do so.
This set the stage for a high-stakes trilogy fight between the two. While the build-up to the second fight was friendly and respectful, emotions ran wild for the third fight. This fight was for all the marbles and neither fighter was holding back on their competitiveness. They stepped into the cage for a third time at UFC 264 in Las Vegas. The fight started with both fighters going full steam ahead but came to an unfortunate halt when McGregor snapped his leg in a freak injury.
