UFC Vegas 44 recently took place inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The fight card had many amazing bouts. However, many eyes were stuck on the main event of Fight Night.

The former featherweight champion Jose Aldo took on Rob Font in a bantamweight bout in the main event. The fight lived to the hype, and Aldo showcased absolute dominance inside the cage. He won via a unanimous decision after a five-round war. Meanwhile, in the co-main event #14 lightweight Rafael Fiziev destroyed Brad Riddell in the third round. 

Many fans and UFC fighters took to social media to congratulate the winners of the action-packed event. One of them was the former lightweight challenger, Michael Chandler. He lauded Aldo for his win on his official Twitter account. And also predicted Fiziev to become the future champion.

Chandler wrote, “Calling it now… Fiziev will be a future champion. Also, soak it in… we are watching an absolute living legend and the train just keeps rolling. The mother fudging #KingOfRio #ufcvegas44.”

Michael Chandler is fresh from his recent loss against Justin Gaethje at UFC 268. Even though ‘Iron’ lost the fight, he showcased sheer will and went to war against Gaethje. Both the lightweight combatants gave UFC fans a fight that they will remember for ages.

After the fight, Gaethje is now waiting for a shot at the title. Meanwhile, Chandler is eyeing a fight against a UFC superstar who is a former two-division champion.

Michael Chandler Wants to Fight the Former Two Division Champion

Following his loss at UFC 268, ‘Iron’ posted a Tweet and called out Conor McGregor. Interestingly, the latter acknowledged Chandler’s post and was quick to respond.

‘The Notorious’ is the biggest entity in the UFC currently. He brings in attention from all over the world whenever he steps foot inside the UFC cage. The Irishman has successfully generated heavy pay-per-views for the promotion.

However, for Chandler, fighting McGregor is not only about the money. In an episode of MMA Hour, ‘Iron’ revealed the reason for fighting the UFC star. He said, “The sport of mixed martial arts is better because Conor McGregor is in it. It’s bigger, and it’s got more eyeballs on it because of what Conor has done, so to share the octagon with him, that’s why I want to do it.”

‘The Notorious’ has recovered from a gruesome injury suffered in his last fight. He will make a comeback in the second quarter of 2022. The Irishman will surely look to map his way to the lightweight gold after his return.

Hence, ‘Iron’ might be a viable opponent for him, as he is amongst the top-5 in the division. A win in this fight will take McGregor back in the title race. While for Chandler, this fight would be one of the biggest opportunities for his MMA career.
