Fans of the UFC have been eagerly waiting for the showdown between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. Jones has made it clear that he wants to fight Miocic since his last win over Ciryl Gane in March. The anticipated battle was expected to take place at UFC 290 on July 8, but unfortunately, it didn’t materialize. No new agreement has been reached for the matchup or Jones in general.
Now Daniel Cormier, a former UFC heavyweight champion who knows both fighters well and closely follows the division, has voiced his concerns. In a recent YouTube video, Cormier shared his opinions and worries about the possibility of the fight actually coming to fruition. And if he’s right, fans may be in for a big disappointment.

Daniel Cormier’s concerns: Jon Jones vs Stipe Miocic
Speaking on the topic, Cormier seemed skeptical about the fight. Commenting on the progress in making the fight happen, he said,
“Still nothing. It really just feels like we’re gonna miss this one too and that’s unfortunate…”
“We’ve got to make this happen [with Jones and Miocic]. Otherwise, we’re gonna miss out on another one. This is too big of a fight to let fall by the wayside.”
He seemed to emphasize the significance of this fight, urging both Jones and Miocic to make it happen. Cormier stressed that they cannot afford to let such a significant match slip away. And he’s right! The fight has been in the making since a long time now, and for fans, a fight of this magnitude is not something that comes around often.

“I don’t know what’s happening right now on the backend that’s not allowing for this to come together, but it needs to come together for the sake of the heavyweight division… It’s up to now Stipe Miocic, the challenger, to make it happen.”
He makes a valid claim- The UFC cannot afford to have Jones absent from the octagon for as long as he was in his previous hiatus. Cormier also noted that Jones seemed eager to fight right away. So now, the responsibility is on Miocic to step up as the challenger and make it happen.
If Cormier’s concerns prove valid, fans may be left disappointed once again. The potential clash between Jones and Miocic is a highly anticipated event, and the absence of a concrete agreement is disheartening. UFC enthusiasts are hopeful that both fighters and the promotion can work together to make this long-awaited matchup a reality.
