Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor had two incredible UFC brawls, resulting in more than a million pay-per-view purchases. As it was one of the most savage rivalries in UFC history, the third confrontation between them would have been epic. However, that tale is coming to a close when Diaz competes in his last bout this year.

As things stand, Diaz will not sign an extension and will bow out after the UFC 279 main event. However, the UFC supremo has no regrets about the missed Nate Diaz trilogy versus McGregor.

In an interview, he said, “Conor’s not ready yet. You know, Conor’s leg isn’t healed yet. You know, Nate could obviously sit around and wait for that. But he doesn’t want it. I don’t know what he’s got planned or what’s he thinking. But right here, right now, he’s ready to fight.”

“He wants to go. And we are going… It’s not like I am like, oh god I never got the chance to make number three, you know. The first two were awesome…If it happens, it happens. We got enough out of the first two.”

Who is Nate Diaz fighting in his last UFC bout?

Initially, it appeared that the UFC was keeping Diaz waiting for McGregor to make a comeback in order for the trilogy to fall into place. However, as Diaz was ready to fight, the UFC obliged and offered him Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC 279 main event.
