UFC welterweight Colby Covington revealed details about a private conversation he had with Jorge Masvidal’s ex-wife. The two former training partners turned foes have been feuding in the media. Furthermore, after the events across November, talks about a fight between them have picked up steam.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, while making his case for why Masvidal should fight him, Covington said, “He should come out and want to defend himself after all the mean things I said about him; about hanging out with his ex-wife, the mother of his children.”

Covington further said, “We had a good day together. I played with Maritza, we played video games and we had a really good talk, you know, on the couch. And we were talking about all the money she’s gonna make from that little b***h cause he has to pay alimony and child support.”

The beef between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal goes back to the days when they used to train together at American Top Team (ATT). ‘Gamebred’ alleged that the conflict began when ‘Chaos’ refused to pay his striking coach, Paulino Hernandez, his dues after his fight with Rafael dos Anjos.
Before the feud, however, the two used to be best friends, roommates, and primary training partners for each other. There are many videos of them training together and cornering each other for fights. That is all in the past and bad blood between them now is real.

If there is one word to describe Covingtons’ style of fighting, it is ‘relentless’. Covington is a cardio machine who breaks fighters with his insane striking pressure and takedowns. ‘Chaos’ is an NCAA All-American who uses his pace and high striking output to overwhelm his opponents and set up his takedowns. Once on the ground, he unleashes his devastating ground and pound techniques.
Masvidal, on the other hand, is an elite striker, who many believe has some of the best boxing skills in the UFC. During his fights, ‘Gamebred’ displays excellent control of range and timing, setting traps for his opponents, and capitalizing on their mistakes. His skills in the clinch and on the ground are not to be dismissed either.

A clash between them would be a classic striker vs grappler showdown; one that nobody would want to miss. Given the bad blood between them and the stakes in the welterweight scheme of things, it could be a relevant blockbuster.
