UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov, in a series of shocking events, fully transitioned into an MMA promoter from a fighter. This change was triggered after his father’s unfortunate demise. After beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 back in 2020, the Russian retired as a champion due to a promise he made to his mother.

Since then, ‘The Eagle’ has narrowed down on his own MMA promotion, Eagle FC. The Russia-based promotion recently concluded its first North American event in FLX Arena, Miami, Florida. Eagle FC 44 was a rather exciting affair that featured UFC Hall of Famer Rashad Evans along with a bunch of other former UFC fighters.

Taking to Twitter, Nurmagomedov boasted the success of the event as he claimed crazy viewership of Eagle FC 44.

“We have some crazy numbers on live viewership right now on #FLXcast app @EagleOnFLX and it’s not even the main card @EagleFightClub,” Nurmagomedov wrote on Twitter.

A heavyweight bout featuring Tyrone Spong headlined the first North American event of Nurmagomedov’s promotion. Meanwhile, the co-headliner saw former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans fight Gabriel Checco.

Khabib Nurmagomedov joined by Henry Cejudo, Kamaru Usman, and Chael Sonnen

Even though the fight card for Eagle FC 44 wasn’t on par with the UFC, ‘The Eagle’ surely turned heads with his pre-event and post-event activities.

‘The Eagle’ Khabib Nurmagomedov called upon UFC greats to join him on the pre and post-fight shows for the Eagle FC 44 event. Among the guests were former UFC double champ Henry Cejudo, current pound-for-pound king Kamaru Usman, and UFC legend Chael Sonnen.

Kamaru Usman is one of Khabib Nurmagomedov’s close friends, one who was there for him even during his UFC championship days. ‘The Messenger’ is also on the list of fighters who share a great bond with the Dagestani. Although Sonnen didn’t tick the aforementioned criteria, he surely is one of the most renowned spokespeople and analysts in the MMA sphere.
