Looking back at it, Garbrandt vs Cruz can be termed as a best vs best match-up. Garbrandt had a perfect record of 10-0 back then. Cruz, on the other hand, was the UFC Bantamweight Championship and had a record of 22-1. The only loss Cruz had suffered till then was at the hands of Urijah Faber.
With 5 straight wins after entering UFC, Garbrandt was able to get a title shot against Cruz. The fight happened at UFC 207, on December 30, 2016. It was a ferocious battle from the first second, and both fighters landed powerful strikes. However, Garbrandt’s speed and accuracy were able to give him a slight edge in the fight.
