‘We Really Want to Sign Him’- Khabib Nurmagomedov Interested in Singing the Former UFC Heavyweight Champion

After retiring from professional fighting, the UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov is running his own MMA promotion Eagle FC. The promotion will soon have its first-ever event in the U.S.A.

Ahead of Eagle FC 44, the Dagestan native held a press conference in the FLX Arena in Miami on 16th December. The event will see some notable former UFC fighters including Rashad Evans, Kevin Lee, and a few others on the fight card.

Interestingly, former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was also present at the press conference. While being asked about the reason for his presence at the event, Nurmagomedov responded by expressing his interest to sign the former champion.

He said, “Yeah, we work on this. We wanna sign him. He is one of the greatest strikers in UFC history, former UFC Heavyweight Champion. You know what is interesting about him? It was a long time ago, more than 10 years ago, when he was fighting with Cain Velasquez. He make me so upset. Cain was my favorite fighter, and he became the UFC heavyweight champion. It was UFC’s debut on Fox.”

Khabib was nothing but praises for the fighter. He added, “Junior is a legend of this sport. Honestly, we really want to sign him. Not only for MMA, we gonna talk about a boxing match too. Big promoters from boxing they contact with me about they wanna make some big show with Tyrone Spong and his big show.”

“Maybe a fight against Anthony Joshua or Ruiz, the Mexican guy. They very interesting. Can you imagine Junior Dos Santos versus Kharitonov boxing match or Spong vs. Junior boxing match? But first, we have to sign Junior dos Santos, then we can talk about a lot of stuff.”

The undefeated Dagestan fighter is having a great time focusing on his newer engagements. However, ‘The Eagle’ has still not left the sport completely.

The former UFC champion trains his friends and teammates for their MMA careers. Also, he is the promoter of his own MMA league, Eagle FC. Created to introduce excellent Russian fighters to the world, the league has already garnered much attention from the fans and media.

Hence, it will have its first event on American soil. Nurmagomedov has brought the promotion to the next level and has done some interesting signings. One of them is the former UFC light heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans.

Interestingly, fight fans will see him back in action on the fight card of Eagle FC 44 on 28th January. After witnessing such amazing signings by ‘The Eagle’ it is clear, he has some more surprises for the fight fans in the future.
