Leon Edwards stirs the pot with his comments about Colby Covington

Taking to his Instagram handle, Leon Edwards has sent a scintillating reminder to his fans – as to what this fight means to him. In his recently gone viral IG clip, where he’s seen collaborating with ‘Myprotein,’ ‘Rocky’ has laid out his plans to go down as one of the UFC’s greats. 

He kicked off his message by acknowledging Covington’s skills as a fighter: “So, my next fight will be against Colby Covington, December 16th in Vegas. I want to get back to work and get back to competing. I think with Colby Covington – it’s hard not to respect him as a fighter, right? ‘Cause he is good.”

He emphasized that it’s challenging not to respect Covington’s prowess inside the octagon, regardless of personal opinions. However, ‘Rocky’ quickly made it clear that his respect for Covington as a fighter does not extend to his character outside of the cage. Likewise, he further added, “I think his sh*t-talking can overshadow his talent when he’s fighting. But overall, as a person – I don’t think he’s a good person.”

What’s more – the welterweight champion highlighted the stark contrast in their relationship. He even asserted that they won’t be friends outside of fighting. He declared, “We won’t be friends outside [of] fighting. So, I think that’s one of the main reasons why I want to put [my] hands on him.”

“I think fighting someone like Colby Covington definitely gives me the motivation. Like getting up more early to go for a run – definitely get to the gym early to train. So, I think I can’t imagine myself losing to someone like that. So, I think that’s my motivation in camp, and I think that’s the motivation I need to go down and be one of the greats,” said Edwards.
