Famed UFC commentator and podcaster Joe Rogan once claimed in 1993 that comedian Carlos Mencia was stealing other people’s jokes. It was during that time when the famous podcaster was performing at the comedy store. Fellow comedian Louis C.K. reiterated this story in a recent episode of Theo Von’s ‘This Past Weekend’ podcast.

Louis C.K. knew Rogan since the early days of his stand-up career. He made an appearance on the JRE podcast as well. Louis believes that Joe Rogan is an interesting personality.

“He was interesting as a guy and not typical.” He added, “When he went on and I’d hear his stand up, I was like that he’s working. He’s good and I liked his stand-up.”

However, Louis C.K. reveals that both comedians had to make an important decision. Joe Rogan called out Carlos Mencia and Louis mentioned that he was uncompromising during that situation.

Joe Rogan was fired by his agency

Louis C.K. recalls the time when Rogan and Mencia’s beef became a big issue.

He said, “We had kind of a crossroads thing because he that thing with Carlos Mencia where he outed him stealing work.”

Louis then mentioned the consequence involving Rogan’s agency, The Gersch Agenc,y firing the 55-year-old podcaster.

“His agency Gersch told him …if you don’t apologize to Carlos, we’ll dump you,” said Louis C.K.

However, Joe Rogan was not budging from his claims on Mencia’s thievery and left the agency. Louis C.K. was also managed by the same agency.

When he heard the news of Rogan getting fired, he couldn’t believe it. Louis decided to call the New Jersey native to confirm the news.

He said, “I contacted him to say ‘I need to hear from you if it’s a true story.’ and he said ‘a hundred percent.”
