Joe Rogan is closing in on completing a couple of thousand episodes of his ‘Joe Rogan Experience’ podcast. However, besides his role as a UFC commentator and podcast host, the 55-year-old is also a comedian. He recently opened his own comedy club in Austin, Texas, and explains in the latest JRE episode how his comedy club is aiming to help stand-up comics and foster new talent.

Joe Rogan is the first comedian to start a comedy club. His club, ‘Comedy Mothership’, took more than two years of preparation for it to come to fruition and the tickets for the first show were sold out very quickly.

The 55-year-old claims that the reason behind the establishment of his comedy club was to give people a real home for stand-up comedy. He also mentioned that they are also aiming to foster new comic talents. Rogan said, “I wanted to do something where it was like, really designed… to foster new talent.”

He adds that he also provides opportunities to people who work in his comedy club to display their comic skills as well. Rogan said, “We have two open mic nights. After the open mic, the door guys. All the people who work there… they all audition. So they’re all standups.” He mentions that the people who work in his club get real stage time to showcase what they have in store in terms of comic talent.

Rogan is attempting to get the comedians to get paid

The million-dollar podcast host also mentioned that one of the main motives behind his comedy club is to help other comedians get paid. Rogan said, “We’re trying to do it in a way where everybody gets paid. There’s plenty of money going around.” He also claims that the environment in his club is favorable to everyone who wants to perform there. Rogan added, “It’s a really warm and welcoming environment. There is plenty of fun.”

Joe Rogan already mentioned earlier that he wasn’t interested in making money for himself with his comedy club. Instead, he wants to help the up-and-coming talents in the business. It is a very generous initiative by the 55-year-old considering the level of influence he has over his fans, who already showed their allegiance to the comedy club with the first event being sold out.
