United States President Donald Trump is an avid sports buff. He makes it a point to keep up with the happenings in sports and has a soft spot for the UFC, who he helped find their footing at the start of the century. However, the President’s interest in the UFC goes way beyond that of a casual fan. He keeps track of various records and reserved a shout-out for welterweight fighter Jorge Masvidal.

While addressing a rally, President Trump praised ‘Gamebred‘ for his performance at UFC 239. He said, “We have some real champions here. And one I heard, in particular, I saw a very fast knockout not so long ago. Where’s Jorge? Where is Jorge? I don’t want to fight with him. Where is he? Where is he? Stand up, Jorge. Stand up. There he is.”

The BMF champion was the toast of the MMA world after he handed Ben Askren a first professional defeat. The ATT fighter read his opponent to perfection and made the perfect start to finish the fight. He anticipated ‘Funky’ going for the legs and charged forward with a high knee.

President Trump said, “That’s the fastest knockout. I watched his… he was fighting this young superstar who was going to great, right? They were telling me how great he is. I don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings but he was supposed to be the future of the UFC but he had to go through this guy right here but it didn’t work out too well. Did it, Jorge? What a champion you are!”

Donald Trump feels Jorge Masvidal had a good monetary return at UFC 239

Before his stint in the White House, Trump built an empire with the Trump organization. He touched on the timing of the knockout and hinted that the fighter made a profitable return when it was taken in proportion with the time he spent in the cage.

Masvidal connected with the knee at the three-second mark, and it took two seconds for the referee to wave off the fight.

Trump continued, “That was the fastest, was it? About a second? Two seconds? You ran across the ring and the guy was gone and that was the end of it. Did they have to pay you for that evening or not? Because one second, that’s a good return.”

‘Gamebred’ earned $520,000 from the fight and it amounted to $104,000 per second. The monetary return combined with the fight intelligence and perfect strike awed fans all over. Safe to say President Trump was one of them.
