Amid all the controversies Conor McGregor found himself, the latest civil case in Dublin he’s involved in seems to be the final nail in the coffin for fans. Whatever questionable thing McGregor did before the case, fans seemed to forgive, chalking it down to his wild persona as a fighter. Previously, fans still gave credit to ‘Mystic Mac’ for changing the landscape of MMA, despite his reputation taking a nosedive on several occasions.
In the latest, the Dublin civil court found ‘The Notorious’ liable to pay the plaintiff Nikita Hand a sum close to $260,000 after the latter accused him of assaulting her in 2018. This development has left a nasty taste for many in the community and seems to be the inflection point of MMA gyms trying to distance themselves from any imagery of the Irish superstar. Previously, it was common for many MMA gyms to have some kind of mural of McGregor, but now it seems like these gyms are taking down murals of the Irish superstar, as seen in a video shared by ‘CrashMMA’ on Instagram.
Why this feels like a severe dent in Conor McGregor’s reputation as compared to his previous infractions, is because it’s not just members in the fight community distancing themselves from ‘The Notorious’. In what seems like the loss of a lucrative business opportunity in the world of gaming, a major developer has sought to distance themselves from the Irish superstar as well.
