Conor McGregor and his early days in the UFC featherweight division
UFC fighter Conor McGregor originally fought in the featherweight division. Even before the UFC, ‘The Notorious’ made a name for himself in the 145-pound weight class. He is also undefeated in the UFC featherweight division with a record of 7-0.
McGregor made his UFC debut at featherweight against Marcus Brimage and secured a first-round win. He then fought Max Holloway and earned a unanimous decision victory.
Following the fight against ‘Blessed, McGregor was undefeated in his next five fights. During this period, ‘The Notorious’ gained immense popularity with victories over the likes of Dustin Poirier and Dennis Siver.
Conor McGregor wins the UFC featherweight championship
Conor McGregor’s most memorable fights came against Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo. In his fight against Mendes, McGregor showed immense toughness to fight adversity. Even though Mendes initially had the upper hand at UFC 189, ‘Mystic Mac’ knocked him out towards the end of round 2 and became the UFC interim featherweight champion.

In his next fight, ‘The Notorious’ fought Jose Aldo at UFC 194 for the undisputed UFC featherweight belt. He landed a precise punch and secured the win within 13 seconds of the first round to become the first Irish champion in the UFC.

After that, he tested the waters at lightweight and welterweight, but he hasn’t been able to recreate his featherweight dominance.
