The UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland doesn’t mince his words. His foot-in-mouth often lands him in controversies. His recent beef with MMA coach Patt Barry and his wife, Rose Namajunas has become one such awkward situation.

It mostly began when Rose Namajunas had an underwhelming performance against Carla Esparza at UFC 274, costing her straw-weight title. Many people blamed coaches Pat Barry and Trevor Wittman for the conflicting messages they gave ‘Thug Rose’ during her fight. However, Barry blamed Strickland for the former champ’s underwhelming performance.

What happened between the couple and the champ?

In the Man Dance podcast, Chris Curtis revealed that he along with Strickland, Namajunas, and Barry were all on the bus going to his first promotional event at UFC 268. He revealed that Strickland had a very inappropriate question for Barry, as he asked him, “How old was she?”

Later on, after Namajunas lost her fight against Esparza, Barry went on to the MMA hour to give the reasons for ‘Thug Rose’s loss against the Cookie Monster. Among some of the excuses, Strickland’s comments were also deemed to be a factor for the former strawweight champion.

The UFC middleweight champion responded by posting a tweet further insinuating that Barry groomed his wife. In the tweet, he wrote, “Here’s the thing guys 99 percent of what I say is usually wrong.. This is not that time.. @rosenamajunas!@TheAspenLadd like my post if you need help. I’ll treat Pat Berry and Jim West like they treat minor. Without consent, although it won’t be behind closed doors lmao!”

Given that this happened over a year ago, most people would expect the beef to have ended. However, Strickland reminded people again that he still disliked Pat Barry.

The champ continues to troll the coach

Just when people started to think that Sean Strickland buried his beef with former kickboxer, Pat Barry, the middleweight champ, took another jab at Namajunas’ husband back in October of 2023.

Strickland reposted a story on his Instagram that circulated quickly on Reddit. The post was a meme of Barry showing off his car but, instead, the car was a van with a large parchment pasted on it that wrote “Free Candy”.
