What Did Shamil Gaziev Tell His Corner Before Marc Goddard Eventually Called Off the Main Event Against Jairzinho Rozenstruik?

UFC Vegas 87 witnessed a rather peculiar main event. The Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Shamil Gaziev fight witnessed a victory by Tko but it was not what one would expect it to be. Gaziev came to the fight with an undefeated streak of 12 victories and 0 losses but seems like the trend has reversed now. Gaziev now has another thing to worry about: it’s his eye as there might be a potential eye injury for the Russian.

‘Bigi Boy’ took center stage when he outpaced his opponent. Rozenstruik outstruck Gaziev in almost every field. In the fourth round, Gaziev seemed to have sustained some injury on his eye that led Marc Gobbard to pause the match and call it off. Let us understand what Gaziev said to his corner before Goddard had to step in to call the match.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Shamil Gaziev match was the highlight of the event. The MMA fans were expecting a war between the fighters and seems like they delivered it. However, in the fourth round, the match had to be stopped by referee Marc Goddard as he sensed something off about Gaziev’s movement. After further inspection by the referee, the match was called off and Rozenstruik was announced as the victor by Tko in the fourth round.

So what exactly happened? Well, Rozenstruik struck Gaziev with several powerful jabs within a matter of 20 minutes. The continuous jabs to his face led to Gaziev’s bleeding nose. Despite the injury, Gaziev continued in his endeavor but the fourth round was his call to quit. Shamil Gaziev told his corner that he was having difficulties seeing due to the potential injury to his eyes.

The Issue was not entirely clear at that time. Marc Goddard witnessed something was off with the sloppy movements of Gaziev in the fourth round and he stepped in. Goddard’s intention was praised by the MMA community because Gaziev’s corner was hesitant to let the fight happen. The stoppage was at the perfect time, however, according to the MMA community the fight can be termed as an embarrassing endeavor for the fighters. Why you ask? Let us find out.

An embarrassing fight for the Gaziev?

The early stoppage might be good for the fighter but it won’t look good on Gaziev’s resume. It was the first loss of his career after clinching straight 12 victories. It must be noted that Shamil Gaziev was given a chance to headline a UFC event in his second fight but seems like he has arguably not only disappointed his corner but the entire MMA community in totality.

Word surrounds that Rozenstruik showed him the levels of the UFC. Some of the critics even state that the stoppage was nice but it felt as if Gaziev just gave up after the bout. The fight was an embarrassment for the legacy of the community according to some critics, who did not feel the fight was up to their expectations.
