After he lost the bout against Leonardo Santos in UFC 194, Lee brought out the tough fighter in him, after which he achieved a five-fight winning streak. These glorious victories paved the way for the interim lightweight title bout. For the interim lightweight title, Lee had to face Ferguson at UFC 216. Nonetheless, in round three, Lee had to submit to the arm triangle choke of the 38-year-old.

From then on, the American fighter faced a downfall in his UFC career. Lee had to go through two victories and four losses, followed by the interim title loss. This compelled the lightweight to leave the UFC and join the Eagle Fighting Championship. All of that is in the past now with Lee looking to make an impact in his second stint with the promotion.
