Nick Diaz is set to return to the UFC Octagon at UFC 166. The Stockton native will take on Robbie Lawler in a rematch. The duo previously fought 17 years ago with Diaz claiming a knockout win. Diaz last fought at UFC 183 when he squared off against Anderson Silva in a middleweight clash.
UFC 266 will end his hiatus from competition that has lasted for over 5 years. Diaz lost a decision in that fight. However, it was later ruled into a no-contest after Silva tested positive for PEDs and Diaz tested for marijuana. Nevertheless, the fight was a barn-burner and a classic that fans enjoyed from start to finish.

Silva was returning to action since his horrific leg break at UFC 168 against Chris Weidman. Diaz, on the other hand, moved up a division for the contest as he has competed at the 170 lbs division for most of his career.
‘The Spider’ is one of the versatile strikers to ever grace the UFC Octagon. But Diaz is as tough as they come and his grit and heart were on full display.

The elder Diaz brother started the fight with his usual taunting habits. He mocked Silva with antics. He even lied on the Octagon at one point, provoking Silva to come at him.

The Brazilian finally unloaded on Diaz. But despite landing some good shots, he couldn’t stop Diaz from overwhelming him. However, Diaz landed some good shots of his own as well.

Both Silva and Diaz are two of the best stand-up fighters in the sport’s history. The match-up was a tremendous prospect for the fans and it didn’t disappoint by any means. Both fighters put on a show for the most part.
